The Republic of Moldova is also affected by SAR-CoV-2 virus. Since the moment of the confirmation, the first case with SAR-CoV-2 to the present, the spread of the virus has been more than accelerated. This fact is confirmed by the huge number of currently confirmed cases which represents 33.072 infected persons. (22.08.2020). The trend is shown in the figure below.
In addition to the multitude of measures to prevent the spread of SAR-CoV-2 virus-like:
- Disinfection of surfaces;
- Keeping distance;
- Use of mask,
the most important, recommended and accessible measure is PERSONAL HYGIENE SUITABLE, and WASHING FRECVENT THE HANDS with soap and water.
In the light of the values that define THE ROTARY CLUB, namely to join forces of people who wish to do things better, the people who wish to make an effort to promote and implement social projects which will provide security, protection and wellbeing for all people around. This community are in a position to help solve the most challenging global today’s problem, and as a result, THE ROTARY CLUB wants to implement this project, which is a solid measure to prevent the spread of the virus and to provide a safe, healthy and hygienic environment for children.
In addition to providing the basic conditions and facilities to ensure PERSONAL HYGIENE like frequent hand-washing with soap and water, our project also solves an acute current problem faced by many schools in Moldova – THE LACK OF MODERN BATHROOMS AND TOILETS CONNECTED TO THE WATER NETWORK AND SEWERAGE SYSTEM. Under these unsanitary conditions, this places can become real outbreaks of infection which spread not only viruses but and other diseases.
The beginning of the school year creates many problems with the way in which the SAR-CoV-2 spread is organized and managed. The lack OF MODERN BATHROOMS and TOILETS where the pupils are able to benefit from the basic need – WASHING HANDS, only aggravates this problem.
Implementation of this project aims to make THE BATHROOMS and TOILETS, the disinfected and safe places for both pupils and teachers. The project will also contribute significantly in terms of Preventing the spread of SAR-CoV-2 virus. Equally important for social progress is the efficient use of water resources and the good management of proper waste. We would like to mention that promoting the habit of PERSONAL HYGIENE among pupils is a habit that once formed will persist for all their lives, and its repercussions for social health will being enormous.
